This Is What I Saw: 100 Song Album & Collectors Print

100 Songs, 3 Decades, One Drawing, Zero Adult Supervision

“This Is What I Saw” is the refrain from my song Speculator (Glockler/Genauer). Over the years it’s become a mantra — part reminder, part confession — and lately it’s taken literal form as both a 100-song record and a 100-song pen-and-ink art print The whole thing came together in a backwards but beautiful way. Inspired by the Grateful Dead’s Terrapin Station 100-song poster, artist Pete Nogas (@psychodelicpete) decided to create something similar from my catalog — a visual world drawn from 100 of my songs/lyrics.

One day, staring at the t framed print on on my wall, I realized Pete had seen me in a way I couldn’t see myself; as a single body composed of many characters — 100 stories and hundreds of verses woven into one tale. That realization inspired me to capture the same idea sonically. I headed into Sloth Mountain Studios in La Honda, CA, and recorded all 100 songs live in five days. It’s one dude, one guitar, and a lemming-like march toward capturing 100 songs live. Clocking in at 8.3 hours, it’s either a spiritual journey or a gentle slide into delirium — best approached like ayahuasca: with intention, hydration, and maybe a spotter. “The game” is simple: study the poster, spot a lyric or visual clue, and enter the song you think it represents. If you’re right, you get a satisfying green check; if you’re wrong, a red X lets you know you’ve wandered off the trail. You can play over multiple days, and if you try to enter a song you’ve already guessed, it’ll remind you you’ve been down that road before. For what it’s worth, I made it to 98 before I finally had to call Pete for help. The best part? You can always cheat 🤥 Check it out below - Reid
